Wet and Rainy, but worth it.
Hi all, this is Baking Emporium Ltd’s first post.
We’ve just arrives back to HQ after a busy day at the farmer’s markets in Douglas, Bandon and Skibbereen. The whole family is exhausted and is looking forward to our day off tomorrow.
Yesterday’s Clonakilty Market was a complete washout (but hey, this is Ireland right!), but was a huge success for the Friends of Clonakilty Market in terms of public exposure. We had another morning visit from the amiable town clerk and traffic warden, both of which reminded the traders of the town council’s dispproval of what they believe is an unauthorised market. The town clerk also collected the names and addresses of all the stall holders and gave a formal warning concerning the possible issuing of a court summons to all traders. For more information in relation to the development and controversy surrounding the market please visit Ivan McCutcheon’s Blog at: http://foodculturewestcork.wordpress.com/2008/08/25/great-show-of-support-for-clonakilty-market/
All traders stayed put for the day and will be trading again next Friday from 8.00 am.
All are welcome and we are looking forward to seeing you!!
Thanks again to the many people who signed our petition over the past months. 1000+ names and counting. And if anyone’s interested in supporting us you’ll find petition forms available at the Olive Branch in Spillers Lane, Clonakilty

Hello Christian and all at Baking Emporium
Delighted to see that you are blogging now and glad to hear that you are keeping the battle going for a decent market in Clonakilty. I’m sure that with the upcoming elections, the people of Clon will get plenty of opportunity to let their elected reps know what they want their town to be.

Hi Andreas,
Congrats on the blog – looking forward to more. A farmers market in Clon is a huge asset to the town, especially coming into the Summer with (hopefully) lots of tourists around. Dee
